Holocaust Remembrance Event -Talk by Holocaust Survivor Helen Levinson
Start Date: 4/19/2018Start Time: 12:40 PM
End Date: 4/19/2018End Time: 2:00 PM

Event Description:
Talk by Holocaust survivor Helen Levinson for Holocaust Remembrance Week. The semester's final offering in FLCC's "History, Culture & Diversity" series (Dr. Robert Brown, Organizer). Born in Lublin, Poland, Helen spent the early part of WWII in Majdanek concentration camp, until she was able to escape (with the help of stolen Hitler Youth uniform). To elude the Nazis and avoid being interned in a Polish ghetto (or sent to another concentration camp), Helen obtained false identity papers (as a Catholic) and worked for Viennese Nazis for the remainder of the war. She was the only member of her immediate family to survive the conflict.
